Development journal / Introductory note
Building toward the first departure.
A spacecraft, a moving Solar System, and the work of making the journey worth taking.
The experience taking shape
Departure 2150 is being developed around operating a spacecraft at Solar System scale. Learning its engineering, navigating between worlds, and discovering what lies beyond the next arrival are central to that experience.
Freight contracts and ship progression are planned to give those flights an economic purpose. The release scope is still being shaped alongside work on spacecraft, stations, and the simulation itself.
Beginning at Port Imbrium
The gameplay trailer shows a departure from Port Imbrium in Luna’s Mare Imbrium region. Systems come online, and the pad falls away beneath the ship. Whether the player’s first hour begins there remains a design decision.
The tutorial and assistance defaults are still open design decisions. The goal is to make spacecraft mastery rewarding while giving new pilots ways to learn.
Sharing the work
The development journal will make room for experiments, practical engineering decisions, and the occasional remarkable view from the cockpit. Recorded flights and the simulation stream will accompany those updates.
Release dates and confirmed feature commitments will follow when they are ready.
